Can I just say how much I LOVE this blogging community? I really do. So many wonderful people sharing their experiences, their stories, their lives freely in an effort to support, motivate, and inspire us. Although we may never meet in person, we are a family in spirit. I am SOOO very honored to have been nominated for the Word Press Family Award by David Lawrence, author of The Quinquagenarian Runner blog. I still have a mental note to look up that word. LOL!
Thank you so much for this nomination, David. I truly enjoy reading how great you are doing with your running as you train for your first half marathon and full marathon. You truly are inspiring to me! Some of the following blogs I have been following for a while, and others are recently discovered. Please go check them out.
Word Press Family Award info:
“This is an award for everyone who is part of the “Word Press Family” I started this award on the basis that the WordPress family has taken me in, and showed me love and a caring side only WordPress can. The way people take a second to be nice, to answer a question and not make things a competition amazes me here. I know I have been given many awards, but I wanted to leave my own legacy on here by creating my own award, as many have done before. This represents “Family” we never meet, but are there for us as family. It is my honor to start this award.”

My Family Members:
Today, I jumped in on day two of week nine of my half marathon training (officially the tapering phase). I had a 50 minute tempo run to complete, plus the five minute warmup and cool down walk at the beginning and the end, for a total of 60 minutes. As I was getting dressed, I donned my new Saucony sport bra…EXTRA support, I might add. The cups fit great, but I always have trouble with the circumference. In other words, by torso is kinda big so it’s hard to find any type of bra that will not cut into the back fat! LOL! Well, I ordered the biggest size they carried, which was a 40D. Ummm, yeah…might need to go up to at least a 42D. I could not get that bad boy hooked for shit! I felt like a dog chasing its tail as I tried to grab one of the straps because it was just out of my reach. I broke a damn sweat trying to reach it! Finally…FINALLY…I got a hold of it and stretched that bad boy as far as it could. I finally got it snapped.
When I looked in the mirror, I swear to you it looked like I had a set of back boobs!!! WTF???!!!
I was so shocked by it, and could not believe what I was seeing that I think I stood there for a good three minutes just staring at it, fascinated that my body could do that! I almost started to cry, but I didn’t. I ended up getting mad as hell about it. I took that thing off and threw it to the back of the cupboard like it was diseased!I I ended up taking my old, cheapy sport bra that doesn’t do the best job of supporting these girls, but at least I didn’t look like I had two sets of breasts!
I finished dressing, took my supplements, and grabbed my hydration mixture. It was a cool 70 degree’s with a nice breeze. Just sooo lovely! My ankles were still feeling a bit sore from the two hour run the other day, so I was a bit nervous that I might injure myself. I didn’t struggle as badly as I did during the last run, but I still walked some. It’s ok. It is what it is.
Oh, I forgot to mention that I talked my former co-worker, Mike, the other day. We were just catching up, and I mentioned that the race was coming up on the 15th. Well, I had previously challenged another guy, whom he likes to call Two-Ton-Trygier, which I think is really mean, by the way. Anyway, I had challenged Todd to do the half marathon a few months ago. The trash talking commenced, and he said he would do it. But since I’ve left the organization, I thought the challenge was no longer on the table. Well, leave it to Mike to stir things up! I got a call yesterday from Mike and Todd (I was on speakerphone). There was a bit of trash talking, and while we were on the call, he signed up for the race. Now, not only am I trying to finish the race faster than I did last year, I’m gonna try to finish before Todd does! For the record he is not a runner, but no doubt with my luck, he’ll walk faster than I run! Ha!
